Welcome to our weekly Friday Check-in for January 17th, 2025 ✅

If you are new to Soul Care, WELCOME!! We are so glad you are here. We have a weekly rhythm of checking in together on Fridays. We use Mindy Caliguire's Page, Person, Plan framework to create a weekly rhythm and prepare ourselves for Sabbath rest.

Let’s check in - how are you doing? ...Really?

Take a few deep breaths as you enter this time of intentional prayer and reflection.

Let's begin with,

Page: An Invitation to Reflection

Today, read Isaiah 42:1-10 (The Message):

But here is my servant, the one I uphold;
  my chosen, who brings me delight.
I’ve put my spirit upon him;
  he will bring justice to the nations.
He won’t cry out or shout aloud
  or make his voice heard in public.
He won’t break a bruised reed;
  he won’t extinguish a faint wick,
  but he will surely bring justice.
He won’t be extinguished or broken
  until he has established justice in the land.
The coastlands await his teaching.
God the Lord says—
  the one who created the heavens,
  the one who stretched them out,
  the one who spread out the earth and its offspring,
  the one who gave breath to its people
  and life to those who walk on it—
I, the Lord, have called you for a good reason.
  I will grasp your hand and guard you,
  and give you as a covenant to the people,
  as a light to the nations,
to open blind eyes, to lead the prisoners from prison,
  and those who sit in darkness from the dungeon.
I am the Lord;
  that is my name;
  I don’t hand out my glory to others
    or my praise to idols.
The things announced in the past—look—they’ve already happened,
  but I’m declaring new things.
  Before they even appear,
  I tell you about them.
Sing to the Lord a new song!
  Sing his praise from the ends of the earth!
Spend a few minutes journaling in response to this passage:
  • What stands out to you most? Is there a particular word or phrase?
  • As you read through it a second time… ask God, “to what area of my life does that particular word or phrase connect?”
  • And as you read a third time, be asking God, “Is there an invitation for me?” Is there a response of some kind that God is inviting you into?
Next up is,
Person: An Invitation to Connection

We are meditating on the theme “ARISE” this month and intentionally looking for where God is at work... where God’s Light might be like a new dawn arising.

Where might God be doing a new thing in your relationships? In your sense of community? Take a few minutes to list some key relationships in your life. Pray over each name and face, surrendering these relationships fully to God... as best you can. Continue to ask God for what you need relationally.

Finally we have,
Plan: An Invitation to Intention

“Sing to the Lord a new song!”

How often do you SING? Not just in worship or as a form of prayer, but even putting some of your favorite 70's songs on and really going for it! ;) Studies show that the act of singing can reduce stress, strengthen the immune system, and improve both physical and psychological wellbeing. Feel like you can’t carry a tune? HUM! It holds equal benefits.

We invite you to sing - or hum - with intention this week and note any differences, encouragement, physical or psychological improvements. Perhaps God is already doing a new thing in the very act we are invited to in today’s scripture!

Thanks for checking in today. Blessings!

Have a blessed Friday,

Team Soul Care
