Welcome to our weekly Friday Check-in for March 21st, 2025 ✅
If you are new to Soul Care, WELCOME!! We are so glad you are here. We have a weekly rhythm of checking in together on Fridays. We use Soul Care's Page, Person, Plan framework to create a weekly rhythm and prepare ourselves for Sabbath rest.
How was your week... really? Where did you sense God most? What were you most grateful for?
Let’s take the next few minutes to rest, reflect, and just BE...
Let's begin with,
Page: An Invitation to Reflection
Continue to meditate on Joshua 1:5-9, and return to it as often as you need this month.
Today, read or listen to Jesus’ words in John 5:39-47 (MSG) three times.
“You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you’ll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me! And here I am, standing right before you, and you aren’t willing to receive from me the life you say you want.“I’m not interested in crowd approval. And do you know why? Because I know you and your crowds. I know that love, especially God’s love, is not on your working agenda. I came with the authority of my Father, and you either dismiss me or avoid me. If another came, acting self-important, you would welcome him with open arms. How do you expect to get anywhere with God when you spend all your time jockeying for position with each other, ranking your rivals and ignoring God?
“But don’t think I’m going to accuse you before my Father. Moses, in whom you put so much stock, is your accuser. If you believed, really believed, what Moses said, you would believe me. He wrote of me. If you won’t take seriously what he wrote, how can I expect you to take seriously what I speak?”
Spend a few minutes journaling in response to this passage:
- What stands out to you most? Is there a particular word or phrase?
- As you read through it a second time… ask God, “to what area of my life does that particular word or phrase connect?”
- And as you read a third time, be asking God, “Is there an invitation for me?” Is there a response of some kind that God is inviting you into?
Next up is,
Person: An Invitation to Connection
In today’s reading, Jesus rebukes the religious leaders: they study the Scriptures diligently but fail to recognize that the Scriptures point to Him. Despite their knowledge, they refuse to come to Jesus for Life. Jesus highlights their reliance on human approval rather than seeking God’s glory.
Ask yourself:
Are there areas in my life where I seek or rely on human approval more than God’s? How might this effect the way I relate to others?
Who have I welcomed with open arms and why? Who have I excluded and why?
How have I spent my time? Have I jockeyed for position, ranked rivals, or ignored God in any way?
Talk to Jesus about these things and listen for what Jesus might say to you in response.
Finally we have,
Plan: An Invitation to Intention
This month: let’s continue to pray and live with COURAGE.
Let’s courageously notice when Jesus is standing right before us - maybe in a completely unexpected, humble way - and be willing to courageously receive from Jesus the Life we say we want. After prayerful reflection, choose one way to live in response to today’s Scripture—perhaps by speaking truth with love in a difficult relationship or making a decision based on faith rather than fear of others’ opinions. Take a minute to set your intention in this regard to close this time of prayer.
Our team is praying for you to live en-couraged!
Thanks for checking in today.
Have a blessed Friday,
Team Soul Care
