Welcome to our weekly Friday Check-in for November 8th, 2024 âś…

If you are new to Soul Care, WELCOME!! We are so glad you are here. We have a weekly rhythm of checking in together on Fridays. We use Mindy Caliguire's Page, Person, Plan framework to create a weekly rhythm and prepare ourselves for Sabbath rest.

How’s your week been? This one has certainly been eventful, with the elections here and shifts happening in other parts of the world. If you’re feeling a bit anxious or unsettled, know you’re not alone. It’s a perfect time to take a deep breath, pause, and check in with your soul. Let’s start today grounded, bringing our thoughts and concerns into a place of peace and reflection. Let's check in.

Take the next few minutes to slow down and enter into intentional silence, reflection, and prayer.

Page: An Invitation to Reflection

     Read  Psalm 46 (TPT):

God on Our Side
For the Pure and Shining One by the prophetic singers of Korah’s clan. A poetic song to the melody of “Hidden Things”

1 God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge!
You’re a proven help in time of trouble—
more than enough and always available whenever I need you.
2 So we will never fear
even if every structure of support were to crumble away.
We will not fear even when the earth quakes and shakes,
moving mountains and casting them into the sea.
3 For the raging roar of stormy winds and crashing waves
cannot erode our faith in you.
Pause in his presence

4 God has a constantly flowing river whose sparkling streams
bring joy and delight to his people.
His river flows right through the city of God Most High,
into his holy dwelling places.
5 God is in the midst of his city, secure and never shaken.
At daybreak his help will be seen with the appearing of the dawn.
6 When the nations are in uproar with their tottering kingdoms,
God simply raises his voice,
and the earth begins to disintegrate before him.
7 Here he comes!
The Commander!
The mighty Lord of Angel Armies is on our side!
The God of Jacob fights for us!
Pause in his presence

8-9 Everyone look!
Come and see the breathtaking wonders of our God.
For he brings both ruin and revival.
He’s the one who makes conflicts end
throughout the earth,
breaking and burning every weapon of war.
10 Surrender your anxiety.
Be still and realize that I am God.
I am God above all the nations,
and I am exalted throughout the whole earth.
11 Here he stands!
The Commander!
The mighty Lord of Angel Armies is on our side!
The God of Jacob fights for us!
Pause in his presence
Spend a few seconds in silence before journaling in response to this passage:
  • Is there a line from this psalm that stands out to you most? Hold that line/phrase in meditation for a moment.
  • Read the passage a second time, asking “How does this phrase connect to my life right now?”
  • And finally, read the text a third time, asking “Is there an invitation for me? Is there a response of some kind that God is inviting me into?”
Person: An Invitation to Connection

“Everyone look!” (v.8)... Who do you think of when you hear “everyone?” How might you join with other people to behold and experience the wonders of God in community?

Intentionally connect with a friend or relative to discuss Psalm 46, what the psalm means for you right now, and any of today’s journal prompts/questions.

Plan: An Invitation to Intention

What was noteworthy about October? What do you hope November holds for you?

Please fill in the blank:

I am giving thanks for _________ right now and I want to be more intentional in the area of _________ to pursue soul health in this season.

Take a few more minutes of silence and prayer to offer your thanksgivings and intentions to the Lord.

May it be so - Amen!

Thanks for checking in today!

Have a blessed Friday,

Team Soul Care
