Welcome to our weekly Friday Check-in for November 29th, 2024 ✅

If you are new to Soul Care, WELCOME!! We are so glad you are here. We have a weekly rhythm of checking in together on Fridays. We use Mindy Caliguire's Page, Person, Plan framework to create a weekly rhythm and prepare ourselves for Sabbath rest.

In the USA, we paused yesterday to give thanks and celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Wherever you are please take a moment to consider some of what you are grateful for this week. Instead of pursuing possessions, cheap deals, or Christmas gifts in Black Friday shopping, let’s pause right now to intentionally pursue God... in silence, stillness, prayer, and reflection...

Page: An Invitation to Reflection

As you’ve continued to meditate on Psalm 46 this month, what stands out to you the most? What are you most grateful for in this psalm?

Today’s reading is Romans 15:7-13 (CEB):

So welcome each other, in the same way that Christ also welcomed you, for God’s glory. I’m saying that Christ became a servant of those who are circumcised for the sake of God’s truth, in order to confirm the promises given to the ancestors, and so that the Gentiles could glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,
Because of this I will confess you among the Gentiles,
and I will sing praises to your name.
And again, it says,
Rejoice, Gentiles, with his people.
And again,
Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles,
and all the people should sing his praises.
And again, Isaiah says,
There will be a root of Jesse,
who will also rise to rule the Gentiles.
The Gentiles will place their hope in him.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Spend a few minutes journaling in response to this passage:

  • First Reading: What if anything stands out to you? Is there a particular word or phrase?
  • Second Reading: As you read through it again, perhaps in a different translation… ask God, “to what area of my life does that particular word or phrase connect?”
  • Third Reading: And as you read a third time, be asking God, “Is there an invitation for me?” Is there a response of some kind that God is inviting you into?

Person: An Invitation to Connection

Who can you intentionally “reach out to and welcome”? Who are considered ‘outsiders’ in your context and what would offering them welcome mean for you... and for them?

Plan: An Invitation to Intention

This month, we have also been intentionally looking for God’s presence, flowing in and around us in everyday life.

Take 2 minutes of silence to look ahead... visualize the coming week(s). Picture yourself healthy, filled with God’s joy and peace, and achieving a specific goal. The key is to visualize the goal in as much detail as possible, including how it feels to achieve it. Envision yourself with kindness and compassion. And take time to envision offering welcome to the ‘outsider’.

As you take this time to visualize and look ahead, our team is praying this for you:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen!

We are thankful you’ve checked in today and we are thankful to God for YOU!

Have a blessed Friday,

Team Soul Care
